I write, I teach, I facilitate, and I convene learning communities - specifically around the subjects of heterodox food systems and economics. I do a little visual art and calligraphy on the side.
And I like to have fun doing it.
Consider this space a home for all of that - one that sucks less than LinkedIn. This is a place to get in touch, read some original essays, and consider ways we can put big ideas related to truly transformational food systems and economics into practice.
Check out some of my work.

Geographies of Exclusion & Resistance

My advisor for graduate school invited me to recreate and reenergize a course I took during my first semester. The result was Food Systems Thinking, which incorporates poetry and essays exploring joy with foundational studies in sustainable food systems and principles of systems thinking.
I supported members of Frontline Farming in Denver, Colorado in creating this course on colonialism, capitalism, and our complex relationships to land. It spans centuries-long histories and modern efforts toward reparation.
Animal Ethics

One of our closest collaborators - journalist and novelist Joe Fassler - proposed a class that built off of his research into animal agriculture, and I helped design the curriculum. I also helped optimize it for an online learning environment.

Growing Your Own Food for Health & Security
Details here
How can we run sustainable farm businesses that allow us to make a good living while resisting the exploitation of neoliberal capitalism? This class helps learners parse the difference and put principle into action. I worked on this course with partners at the Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust to offer practical and theoretical foundations for running a sustainable farming business inspired by their previous work with the Academia del Cacao program.
Not that I have favorites, but this one is maybe my favorite ;)
I worked with Betsy Briju, PhD, of the Maati-Paani-Asha project at GSG College in Umarkhed to create an accessible class on home gardening. Turns out you don’t need to spend a lot of money to grow your own food!
